Text Box: In a sterling example of the collaborative spirit for which the Northwest Sinfonietta is already recognized, the orchestra joined the Astoria Music Festival and Academy in Oregon as orchestra-in-residence.
Christophe Chagnard, our Artistic Director of renown, was appointed the Festival’s Music Director.
In the beautifully refurbished Liberty Theater in Astoria, the NS Text Box: performed at the opening gala on July 22. The musical agenda featured Beethoven’s “Eroica” Symphony and Chopin’s Piano Concerto No. 2 with soloist Stephen Beus.
On July 27th the NS String Quartet, joined by Grammy-nominated pianist Duane Hulbert, performed “An Evening in Vienna.”
The Festival's grand finale presented three fully-staged performances in Italian of Mozart's opera “Don Text Box: Giovanni,” accompanied by the orchestra-in-residence (we like the sound of that!). Performances were held on July 28, 29, and 30.

Text Box: The Year in Review
Text Box: The 2004-05 season was full to overflowing with new opportunities for the Northwest Sinfonietta. The debut of the Northwest Sinfonietta String Quartet, the orchestra’s expansions into ballet and opera, the new ‘NS in the Schools’ program, and our first-ever tours to Bremerton and Text Box: Astoria, Oregon, all testify to the growing esteem the organization has earned in our region. They are also reminders that our arts organizations have an important role to play in enhancing the quality of life and helping to spur growth in our community. As we enter our 15th season with Text Box: celebrations of Mozart’s 250th birthday, the orchestra is riding a wave of opportunity, grateful for these recent accomplishments and for the enthusiasm of its loyal audiences and supporters.
